Nigeria’s film industry is in mourning following the confirmed death of veteran actor Chief Fabian Adibe. The beloved performer, renowned for his portrayal in the Things Fall Apart adaptation, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, August 20, 2025, around 2:30 a.m.
While different reports vary slightly on his age—some cite 82, others 85—what remains consistent is the outpouring of grief from fans and colleagues alike. The cause of his passing has not yet been disclosed, leaving many eager for further details.
Fabian Adibe was a significant presence in the early days of Nollywood. A member of the Odunke Artists group in the 1970s, he was hailed for his contributions to both Nigerian theatre and cinema. His legacy includes a memorable performance in the adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart, which earned him widespread acclaim.
The news of his passing was first shared by celebrity journalist Seun Oloketuyi on Instagram, paying tribute to his iconic role and promising further updates “later.” Blogger Cutie Juls also confirmed the sad news via Instagram, requesting peace for his "gentle soul.
