Popular Nigerian activist, VeryDarkMan (VDM), has addressed recent prophetic revelations predicting his death, urging Nigerians and the prophets themselves to focus on the nation’s future instead.

The controversy began when two prophets one from Nigeria and another from Ghana made public declarations about VeryDarkMan’s fate.

The first prophet, speaking in Yoruba during a church service, warned the congregation that several activists in Nigeria were destined to suffer grave consequences soon.

He said, “There are activists in this country that they will soon end in Nigeria. One of the activists will be imprisoned. The other one will be killed because they said they have nothing to lose.”

The second prophecy was more specific. In a viral video, the Ghanaian prophet declared, “This is for VDM. Bad politicians have taken him to a river.

VDM is dead in the river but still alive in the physical world. And it’s very bad for your face to be inside a river. Whether VDM likes it or not, he will leave the world unexpectedly.”

In response, VeryDarkMan took to Instagram on Sunday, August 11, 2025, to react to the alarming prophecies with a measured and philosophical tone. He reminded his followers and critics that death is a certainty for everyone and that no individual is above it.

“You heard the pastor, although he didn’t mention my name, but he made reference to what I usually say, which is I have nothing to lose.

That’s number one,” VeryDarkMan said in his post. “You are seeing vision for me as if I’m one person that sees himself to be important. I’m not important. Death is inevitable and is coming for all of us.”

He challenged the prophets to shift their focus from foretelling individual demise to envisioning a better future for Nigeria. “Tell us a vision about our country. Tell us when Nigeria will be a great country,” he added.

VeryDarkMan has been a vocal critic of political and social injustices in Nigeria. His activism often puts him at odds with the government and powerful elites, which makes the recent prophecies particularly poignant and widely discussed.

The activist’s call for prophetic visions centered on national progress rather than personal tragedy resonated with many Nigerians who have long awaited positive change in the country. His stance highlights the need for constructive discourse and collective hope amid ongoing challenges such as insecurity, corruption, and economic hardship.

The prophecies and the activist’s reaction have sparked widespread debate on social media and among political commentators.

Some view the predictions as politically motivated attempts to intimidate or silence activists like VeryDarkMan. Others see them as warnings of the dangers faced by outspoken critics in Nigeria’s complex political landscape.

Regardless, VeryDarkMan’s response reflects resilience and a call to unity. He uses the moment to remind Nigerians that while individuals may fall, the greater cause of nation-building must continue.

As the discussion continues, many await further commentary from VeryDarkMan and other public figures on how to channel Nigeria’s energies towards meaningful reform and lasting peace.
