The incident on the Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos on August 10, 2025, involved a female passenger, Ms. Comfort Emmanson, who refused to comply with safety instructions to switch off her mobile phone before takeoff. After a fellow passenger switched off her phone following a pilot announcement, Ms. Emmanson became verbally aggressive, but the flight took off as scheduled.
Upon arrival in Lagos, it was alleged that she confronted and physically assaulted the Purser (head of cabin crew), tearing off her wig, removing her glasses, throwing them to the floor, and striking her with footwear. She also slapped other cabin crew members who tried to intervene.

The situation escalated when Ms. Emmanson tried to forcibly remove a fire extinguisher to use as a weapon, which could have damaged the aircraft. Security personnel were alerted, and when they arrived, she continued to resist and attack them.

Eventually, she was physically restrained by ground crew and security, with a police officer intervening to calm the situation.
She was taken into custody by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) security and then handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation. Ibom Air has since banned her indefinitely from flying with the airline.

The video making rounds on the internet showed her being restrained while resisting and exposing her breasts during the struggle.
The incident highlights serious breaches of airline safety protocols and the risks posed by unruly passengers.
Recall that a few days ago, a similar incident happened in Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja between Value Air and Kwam 1.
