Nigerian music superstar Davido and his wife, Chioma Rowland, are once again in the spotlight as they prepare for a grand white wedding ceremony in Miami, Florida, this weekend. However, their luxury wedding plans have sparked backlash from Ossai Ovie Success, a special aide to the Delta State Governor, who has taken to social media to express his displeasure.

Ossai, who is known for his controversial takes on celebrity matters, slammed the couple’s decision to hold another high-end celebration abroad, especially after their lavish traditional wedding in Nigeria last year.

Taking to his verified Instagram account, Ossai called the Miami wedding a “waste of money,” emphasizing that having wealth doesn’t justify extravagant spending.

“Davido and Chioma’s white wedding this weekend in Miami is a waste of money, and I am disappointed,” he wrote.

“Having too much money doesn’t mean you should carelessly spend it.

Dangote, Ossai Ovie Success, Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerberg won’t waste money like this.

What is the essence of a white wedding in Florida when your lavish traditional marriage is over a year?

I am really disappointed.”

This is not the first time Ossai Ovie Success has publicly criticized Nigerian celebrities over their personal lives. In recent years, he has built a reputation on social media for calling out entertainers and influencers over what he describes as immoral or culturally insensitive behavior.

In 2024, he took a jab at Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) for wearing a cap while receiving prayers during his traditional marriage rites, calling it disrespectful.

“The singer should have removed his cap while an elder prayed for him and his wife.

The youth of this generation lack respect simply because they have money,” he had said at the time.

He also slammed gospel singer Moses Bliss for sharing a photo with his then fiancée after her call to the bar, accusing the artist of fornication and acting against Christian values.

Likewise, Theophilus Sunday, another gospel musician, came under fire from Ossai for holding his bride-to-be by the waist in their pre-wedding photos, which he condemned as a “traditional taboo” and “unchristian.”

As the highly anticipated Davido and Chioma white wedding in Miami approaches, social media is once again buzzing with mixed reactions—some celebrating the couple’s love story, while others echo Ossai's concerns about celebrity extravagance and cultural values.
