In an emotional post, Raye revealed that despite dedicating a full year serving her country, she has not been issued her NYSC discharge certificate. She described the process as frustrating and disappointing, saying she was told to come for a “final verdict” that she already knows the outcome of — effectively denying her certificate.
“I genuinely wish I wasn’t a Lagos state Corper because it’s a waste of my time,” she lamented. While acknowledging that moving to serve in a new place wasn’t entirely bad, she emphasized that serving there “isn’t all pleasure.”
Raye also addressed the reason given for withholding her certificate — that she failed to clear for the month of April on her scheduled date. However, she claims she was present when the clearance was supposed to happen, but the LG official kept asking her to wait. When the official finally attended to her, she refused to clear her, seized her file, and told her to leave.
“This is a long story and I don’t mind waking up midnight to tell the story. The deep-rooted anger I feel and hatred is crazy because I don’t know who to direct it to,” Raye confessed.
Despite the setback, she expressed hope for the future and announced she is ready to “close this chapter.”
Raye’s experience sheds light on the difficulties some corps members face even after fulfilling their service obligations, sparking conversations about transparency and fairness in the NYSC clearance process.
