Clout, streaming on Bolaji Ogunmola TV (YouTube), is a 1 hour 40-minute Nollywood film starring Femi Jacobs, Bolaji Ogunmola, and Bianca Ugowanna. The movie attempts to capture the extremes of social media content creation and the obsession with viral fame.
The film centers on Lolly, a creator who knows how to manipulate her audience to get attention and media coverage. While some scenes feel realistic—like celebrating Don Jazzy reposting a video—the story often leans too heavily on exaggeration, making it hard to fully connect with her character. Her husband’s quiet rise to respect is an interesting twist, but the film doesn’t explore his perspective deeply enough.
There are entertaining moments, like Dede’s line, “I’m sick of pretending,” which mixes humor with insight about accountability. Yet, the storytelling leaves gaps, such as the unexplained absence of Dede and Lolade’s children from the narrative, which feels like a missed opportunity.
While Clout offers relevant commentary on social media culture and fan gullibility, its over-the-top portrayal of characters and lack of depth in some arcs keep it from being truly impactful. Fans of Nollywood and social media satire may find it relatable, but it doesn’t fully hit the mark.
