Grammy-winning Nigerian star, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has opened up about the unusual directions his life might have taken if he had not chosen a career in music.
In a candid interview shared on X on Friday, the African Giant reflected on the possibilities he once considered, some of which were extreme and shocking.
“When asked what I would have been doing if I hadn’t become a singer, I said, ‘There are many options, I could be stealing oil, I could be playing basketball, I could be a fraudster, a suicide bomber, anything including a prostitute,’” Burna Boy revealed.
While he admitted that his journey could have gone down several risky paths, Burna Boy has instead continued to cement his name as one of Africa’s most successful global music exports.
Recently, he scored another milestone on the Billboard Hot 100, securing his seventh entry on the chart with “WGFT,” a collaboration with American rapper Gunna from Gunna’s album The Last Wun. The track debuted at number 96, further adding to Burna Boy’s international acclaim.
This achievement also made him the first African artist to debut a song on the Billboard Hot 100 for five consecutive years—spanning from 2021 to 2025—highlighting his consistency and impact on the world stage.
