Blessing Amidu, a seasoned veteran in the oil and gas sector with over 20 years of experience, has successfully carved out a niche in Nigeria’s creative industry as a content creator and producer. Her passion for film and storytelling led to the production of Lady Buckit and the Motley Mopsters (LBMM), a widely celebrated Nigerian computer-animated fantasy film released in 2020. Now, Amidu is back with a promising spin-off series titled Secrets of the Multiverse (SOTM).

On the new project, Amidu explained,

“‘Secrets of the Multiverse’ is a spin-off from ‘Lady Buckit and the Motley Mopsters’. This story explores the complexities of leadership — how fear, scarcity, and threats to life influence the decisions a leader makes to protect their people. It dives deep into the morality of these choices, questioning whether a crime can ever be justified if it benefits the community, and how far a leader is willing to go in a futuristic world to safeguard their citizens.”

Amidu shared how animation became her chosen medium, inspired largely by her children’s love of cartoons.

“Animation captivated me because I spent a lot of time watching cartoons with my kids. I noticed a lack of African stories being told through this genre in Nigeria. That sparked the idea to create feature-length Nigerian animated films, starting with LBMM,” she said. Her daughter, a film studies graduate with artistic skills, played a significant role in developing the characters, naming the first five after just one night of collaboration.

Amidu also revealed why the sequel’s storyline came from her daughter’s writing.

“After LBMM’s premiere, we knew a sequel was coming but hadn’t found the right story. Hiring writers was costly, with episodes priced at about $3,000 each. That pushed me to look inward, and I discovered my daughter’s talent for storytelling. She had written short stories that showed great potential. I asked her to write six episodes, and the first blew me and our director, Adebisi Adetayo, away. He was even surprised to learn it wasn’t AI-generated.”

Encouraged by her daughter’s creativity, Amidu had her expand the series to 13 episodes.

“Creativity flows effortlessly from her. I’m so grateful to have a daughter with such talent. Her story has incredible depth and potential to succeed in the market.”

Emmanuella, Amidu’s daughter and the series’ writer, shared her inspiration:

“I wanted to create something unforgettable for kids — something that would blow their minds and go viral. The series touches on themes of friendship, love, leadership, strength, and courage. It’s meant not only for children but also adults, who often enjoy these stories even more.”

With Secrets of the Multiverse, Blessing Amidu is poised to deepen Nigeria’s footprint in animation by combining family creativity with powerful storytelling, all while inspiring a new generation of viewers.
