Popular Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye has confirmed that her movie To Be a Friend (T.B.A.F) has been removed from YouTube after reaching nearly six million views.

The emotional revelation came in a video she posted to Instagram, where she explained that a copyright dispute involving the film’s soundtrack led to its takedown.

“This isn’t the kind of message I hoped to share, but sometimes life throws curveballs,” Bimbo began. “Yes, To Be a Friend is no longer available on the channel.

It’s unfortunate, but we ran into a copyright issue concerning the music used. No, we didn’t cut corners, and yes, we used the right channel but here we are.”

The 34-year-old star, known for her expressive roles and comic timing, chose not to delve into the full details of the dispute. However, she hinted that she may eventually open up about what transpired. For now, her focus is on recovering from the setback and possibly re-uploading the film.

“There’s a chance we’ll have to re-upload the movie,” she added. “That might mean starting again from scratch, which isn’t easy after almost six million views. But it is what it is.”

To Be a Friend, which premiered in July 2025, stars Bimbo Ademoye alongside Uzor Arukwe, Deyemi Okanlawon, and Kunle Remi. The film quickly gained momentum online, amassing views and fan support in a short time.

Bimbo called on her fans to continue supporting the project once it returns online. “If we have to start afresh, I’ll need your help more than ever please watch, like, share, subscribe, repost, and tell your people. I can’t do this alone,” she pleaded.

Despite the disappointment, Bimbo expressed her optimism and trust in divine timing. “Will we hit six million views again? I don’t know. Will we exceed it? I don’t know. But God remains God. He’s on the throne, and He’s got us,” she declared.

She concluded her video message with deep gratitude to her loyal followers, writing in the caption: “Not easily broken.”

The situation highlights the ongoing challenges Nigerian content creators face on platforms like YouTube, where copyright enforcement has become increasingly strict. Fans have already begun showing their support online, urging the actress to re-upload the film and promising to help it regain its former momentum.

Meanwhile, comments under her post have been flooded with encouragement and sympathy, with one fan simply writing, “YouTube and their wahala.”

As fans await the movie’s return, Bimbo remains hopeful that To Be a Friend will find a second life—and an even bigger audience.
