Nigerian TV host Morayo Afolabi-Brown has confessed that her previous remarks about former Anambra State governor Peter Obi were made out of a lack of knowledge about his tenure.
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, shared on Instagram on Sunday, the seasoned broadcaster acknowledged that her criticism of the Labour Party presidential candidate was not well-informed.
“It was because I did not know him. After I made that comment, people called me and said, ‘Morayo, do you realise that when he was governor, he actually served us?’ So that was him. I said, ‘Oh, I did not know,’” she explained.
Brown also reflected on her past experiences in the media, including a period when she was dismissed from TVC. She revealed that her situation only gained attention after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu became aware of her identity.
“People now call Asiwaju, ‘Do you know whose child was sacked?’ He said, ‘I’m not aware.’ He said, ‘This is the Alao Aka-Bashorun’s daughter. That’s when he knew it was me,” she recounted.
Looking back at other career controversies, Morayo recalled the backlash following an on-air interview where she was accused of making inappropriate remarks about her husband. She revealed that the First Lady’s intervention helped her reconcile and issue a public apology.
