Nollywood filmmaker and actress Mary Remmy Njoku has taken to social media to offer a word of caution to those who often pray and fast for others without seeking spiritual clarity.
In a thought-provoking Instagram post, Njoku advised the public to exercise discernment before interceding on behalf of others in prayer. She emphasized that some people may unknowingly be interfering with divine judgment, noting that not every delay or hardship someone faces is caused by demonic forces—some, she explained, are a result of hidden wrongdoing or consequences allowed by God.
"Be careful who you pray for," she warned. "Sometimes you’re trying to bless someone that God is trying to punish. You’re fasting, interceding, and nothing is shifting."
Njoku pointed out that despite one's best spiritual efforts—fasting, praying, or staying up at night interceding—there are times when heaven remains silent. In such situations, she suggested the silence could be due to factors unknown to the intercessor, such as secret sins or divine consequences the person being prayed for must face.
"Before you lose sleep, pause. There might be a reason heaven is silent. A hidden sin. A consequence. Something you don’t know and may never know," she wrote.
The actress urged her followers to be spiritually wise and discerning, explaining that not every spiritual struggle is meant to be taken on by others, nor is every delay caused by the devil.
"So be wise. Be discerning. Not every struggle is a battle you’re meant to fight. Not every delay is demonic. Sometimes, it’s divine judgment," Njoku concluded.
Her post has sparked conversations online, with many praising her for highlighting the need for spiritual awareness and the importance of not blindly stepping into battles that might be part of God’s plan for someone else.
