The Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemates have hit their first major hurdle, losing their opening wager task of the season, which aired on Friday night.
Big Brother, popularly known as Biggie, announced the outcome following their wager presentation — a themed unmasking ball that required the housemates to deliver a creative mix of costumes, drama, and performance. Despite their efforts, the result was far from impressive.
“Such an unremarkable performance.
Housemates, your presentation lacks imagination and substance.
Big Brother’s verdict will be as disappointing as your performance. You have lost your wager,” Biggie declared.
As a consequence, the house will now operate under limited privileges, including reduced food rations for the coming week.
The presentation, which had been anticipated with much excitement, ultimately fell short in creativity and cohesion. Although Head of House Jason Jae had rallied the housemates earlier with motivational words, the performance did not reflect a unified or well-planned effort.
Big Brother also addressed ongoing infractions, including late responses and continued microphone rule violations. He warned the housemates to step up their conduct and take the rules more seriously.
After the task, housemate Koyin attempted to address fellow contestants in the arena. This prompted Biggie to request a group self-evaluation. Jason Jae and Rooboy spoke for the house, saying they gave it their best — but even that couldn’t change the final outcome.
Interestingly, housemate Thelma had earlier hinted at the possibility of failure during her diary session. In a light-hearted tone, she said:
“The way these people are doing, they are not doing like people that will win their wager, so let me make Egusi soup and hot eba that we will eat before they go into the arena.
So if they fail, they know that at least they had their last good food before failing.”
Now faced with the consequences, the housemates must adapt to fewer resources while working to redeem themselves in upcoming tasks.
This season, themed Big Brother Naija: 10/10, will see the ultimate winner walk away with prizes worth ₦150 million, including cash and sponsored rewards, as announced by show organisers MultiChoice.
