Popular Lagos car dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, widely known as IVD, has reportedly been arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport while attempting to travel out of the country.
Sources claim that the arrest occurred on Friday as IVD was set to board a flight to Qatar. He was allegedly intercepted by officials from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
The incident comes just days after reports surfaced about IVD’s plans to marry social media personality Blessing CEO, sparking renewed attention around his legal troubles.
Commenting on the situation, blogger Stella Dimoko-Korkus alleged on Instagram that the arrest is tied to the unresolved court case surrounding the death of IVD’s wife, Bimbo Ogbonna.
“Domestic violence case against him regarding his late wife is still in court. IVD is not supposed to leave Nigeria until the case is over,” she stated.
Bimbo Ogbonna tragically passed away in October 2022 following a fire incident at their home. The case drew widespread public attention after reports suggested the incident stemmed from ongoing domestic abuse.
In connection to her death, the Lagos State Government filed a charge of involuntary manslaughter against IVD, marked LD/21055C/23. The legal process is still ongoing, with the next steps yet to be confirmed.
