Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has opened up about a deeply personal part of her cancer journey, revealing the emotional challenges she faced after her diagnosis.
Speaking to Oyinmomo TV, Osoba said doctors had warned her that the medications she needed for treatment could affect her ability to conceive, potentially delaying her plans to have a child until she was in her 40s.
The 38-year-old admitted that hearing this news was devastating given her age.
Nevertheless, Osoba refused to accept the prognosis and turned to her faith for strength. She embarked on a disciplined regimen of prayer and fasting, combining spiritual practices with her medical care.
She explained:
*“I was told I had cancer and that further tests would be carried out to check how far it had spread. The doctors also said I wouldn’t be able to conceive for the next 5 years because of the medications I’d have to take, as they could affect the baby.
Hearing that at 38 years old was devastating. I couldn’t imagine waiting that long. But I rejected the report and held on to my faith in God.
I began the journey with prayer and fasting, combining both the medical and the spiritual. When I did a CT scan, it came out negative; the cancer hadn’t spread. Eventually, they performed a second surgery to remove the remaining tumour.”*
Through her perseverance and faith, Osoba’s CT scan revealed that the cancer had not spread, and she successfully underwent a second surgery to remove the remaining tumor.
