Zinoleesky Reveals He Ran Away From Home to Pursue Music, Recalls Early Career Struggles

Nigerian singer Zinoleesky has opened up about the tough decisions and sacrifices he made at the beginning of his music journey, including fleeing home to chase his dream.

In a recent interview with SB Live, the ‘Kilofeshe’ hitmaker reflected on the challenges he faced, particularly the lack of support from family—a common hurdle for many aspiring artists in Nigeria.

“Nigerian parents are always in denial whenever you want to do stuffs like music. They want you to do a professional course or learn a trade. So, you just have to find a way,” he said.

Looking back on his personal experience, the Marlian Music act confessed, “Me, I did some crazy stuffs. I ran away from home to do music.”

Zinoleesky also revealed he began his career as a rapper before transitioning to singing, a shift that helped shape his unique sound and pave the way for his success.

His breakthrough came in 2017 when his freestyle clips went viral across social media platforms, earning him widespread attention and a growing fanbase. Though it was speculated that he rejected an offer from Davido’s DMW, he ultimately signed with Naira Marley’s Marlian Music in December 2019.

His debut EP, Chrome Eccentric, featuring chart-topping tracks like Ma Pariwo and Kilofeshe, established him as a rising force in the Afrobeats scene.
