Controversial investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo has once again stirred up conversations on social media after commenting on Priscilla Ojo’s recent baby bump reveal. In a post filled with her signature style of commentary, Olunloyo claimed that Priscilla's actions may have gone against traditional Tanzanian customs, based on information she received from a well-known Tanzanian artist who happens to be a close friend of hers.
According to Olunloyo, certain longstanding traditions in Tanzanian culture strictly prohibit women from publicly displaying their pregnancy bumps. Even more, it is customary that newborn babies remain unseen by anyone outside of the immediate family for at least three months after birth.
Taking to her social media platform, Kemi wrote:
“Wahala, Priscilla Ojo Seems To Have Broken Tanzanian Tradition According To A Famous Tanzania Singer Who's A Friend Of Mine. Women Are Not Allowed To Show Baby Bumps And Nobody Sees The Newborn Till 3 Months.”
Although Priscilla, daughter of popular Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, has yet to confirm any pregnancy or birth, Olunloyo’s post sparked mixed reactions online. Some users were quick to defend Priscilla, insisting that she is Nigerian and not bound by Tanzanian cultural rules, while others found the revelation about Tanzanian customs intriguing.
Olunloyo, who is known for her controversial takes and bold statements, did not clarify whether Priscilla had violated Tanzanian customs knowingly or unintentionally. However, the emphasis in her post seemed to be more on raising awareness about the strict traditions that exist in other African countries, particularly Tanzania.
The journalist has a history of blending sensationalism with factual commentary, often using her platform to challenge celebrities and bring lesser-known cultural practices into the spotlight.
While Priscilla Ojo has remained silent in the face of the commentary, fans continue to speculate on both the authenticity of the claims and the motivations behind Kemi Olunloyo’s post. Whether a cultural misstep or simply an overreach, the story has certainly sparked broader conversations about the role of tradition in modern celebrity culture.
