Former Big Brother Naija housemate Uriel Oputa has voiced her frustration following an uncomfortable encounter with a fan during a shopping trip.

In a candid Instagram story, the reality star recounted how she had gone out early in the morning without makeup or glam, only to be blocked by a fan who insisted on taking a selfie with her. Uriel explained that the individual didn’t stop at just a selfie but went ahead to find someone else to take a proper picture of them—despite the fact that she was simply there to shop, not pose.

“I genuinely believe some Nigerians are missing a few brain cells,” she wrote.

“This morning – early in the morning – I’m shopping, minding my business, about to pay, and you blocked me from taking a selfie. Then, as if that’s not enough, you go and start looking for someone else to take a proper picture. My dear, I’m not dressed for a photoshoot – I came to buy things, not strike poses!”

The situation escalated further when the fan reached out to shake her hand—an action Uriel has publicly stated she’s uncomfortable with.

“After all of that, you still stretch your hand to shake me? After I’ve said multiple times, I don’t shake hands. Not because I’m proud or being rude, but because I’ve seen too much.”

Clearly irritated, she questioned the fan’s reasoning and called for more awareness of personal boundaries.

“Please, is there a brain cell we need to resurrect? Reboot? Recharge with Nepa light? Because I’m not understanding what’s going on.

Stop trying to shake my hands.

At this point, you guys are annoying.”

Uriel’s post has since sparked a wave of reactions online, with some fans supporting her stance on personal space and hygiene, while others found her words too blunt.
