The first half of 2025 brought fire to Nollywood, and here’s the official ranking of the top 10 highest-rated films and series from January to June.

From sci-fi innovations to emotional family dramas, here are the titles making waves — arranged in order of rating.

1. Blackout — 4.2/5

Released in cinemas this February, Blackout currently holds the crown as the highest-rated Nollywood film of 2025. Although plot details are under wraps, its reception was so strong that Nolly Critic called it their highest-rated movie ever.

2. Makemation — 4.0/5

Hailed as Africa’s first AI-themed feature film, Makemation follows a young tech-savvy girl in rural Lagos using innovation to solve real-life challenges. Family-friendly, inspirational, and socially relevant — it premiered April 18 and made over ₦32.9 million in its debut weekend.

= The Masked King — 4.0/5

Tied in second place, this mysterious title continues to earn high praise despite a low public profile. Early watchers are calling it a hidden gem.

= Something About The Briggs — 4.0/5

Another fan favorite, this family drama (from what we gather) has captivated viewers with strong performances and story depth.

= Aso Ebi Diaries — 4.0/5

Directed by Biodun Stephen, this social comedy-drama blends fashion, gossip, and Lagos lifestyle into a hilarious and heartfelt ride. Its U.S. premiere sold out, and critics say it’s “one of the best Nollywood films of the last two years.”

6. Radio Voice — 3.9/5

Flying quietly under the radar, Radio Voice impressed enough critics to land in sixth place. The story likely revolves around themes of communication, media, or personal redemption.

7. Baby Farm — 3.85/5

With its emotional storytelling and layered plot, Baby Farm tackles sensitive issues and leaves a lasting impression. Details remain scarce, but viewers rated it highly.

= Atiko — 3.85/5

This socially conscious drama shares the same rating as Baby Farm and has been commended for its storytelling. Possibly touching on rural struggles or family bonds.

9. The Fire & The Moth — 3.75/5

A symbolic title that hints at deep metaphors and human desire. Though not much is publicly known yet, its poetic framing seems to resonate with audiences.

10. Grind – Season 2 — 3.5/5

The only series on the list. While not as critically acclaimed as others, the second season of Grind remains a favorite among fans of the show.
