Nigerian singer and songwriter Ruger has once again captured the hearts of fans across the country — but this time, not with his music.
The Afro-dancehall star recently paid a surprise visit to his former secondary school and stunned the students and staff with a heartfelt gesture that has since gone viral online.
In an emotional video shared on social media by @dammiedammie35, Ruger is seen donating 50 brand-new laptop computers to the school, describing the gift as a contribution to the advancement of education in the digital age.
The singer didn’t stop there. After being serenaded by a student identified as Lucky Friday, Ruger went on to announce that he would sponsor the boy’s education a gesture that moved many to tears.
“On behalf of my team, me and my family, I’m presenting 50 computer laptops to the school,” Ruger said during his speech.
“We’re in the computer age. We want to use this so that our education in this school will be better and more efficient. This is not all we’re going to do for this school. As God continues to bless and uplift us, we’re going to do more.”
Clearly moved by nostalgia and deep gratitude, Ruger shared how his time at the school shaped his formative years and helped build the person he is today.
“The happiest part of my life was in this school, the most exciting part of my life was in this school. I thank my friends for also coming here,” he added. He further praised Lucky Friday, saying the student’s performance touched him deeply, hence his decision to personally sponsor the boy’s education.
