Popular Nigerian pastor and preacher, Rev Kesiena Esiri Henry, has publicly called out gospel artist Ebuka Songs over a controversial livestream video that has sparked outrage among many Christian believers. The respected clergyman heavily criticized the gospel singer for appearing in a live video with popular entertainer Peller, where they were allegedly seen mocking speaking in tongues and prophecy—two core expressions of the Christian faith.
In a now-viral sermon clip, Rev Kesiena questioned how a man who claims to "minister to Elohim" could be seen participating in what he described as an act of blasphemy. “How can you explain to me that somebody who says he sings for God, who ministers unto Elohim, is seen on video with a clown mocking tongues, mocking prophecy?” the pastor exclaimed, visibly upset. He accused Ebuka Songs of disrespecting the sacredness of spiritual gifts and misleading his followers.
The video in question has since sparked a wave of criticism online, with many Nigerian Christians expressing disappointment in the gospel singer’s conduct. Ebuka Songs, known for hits like "I Will Pray" and "Midnight Cry," has built a reputation as a passionate worship leader and minister. However, this recent controversy may pose a threat to his credibility within the Christian community.
Social media platforms are currently flooded with comments from both fans and critics, some defending the singer while others demand an apology or explanation. As of now, Ebuka Songs has not made an official statement regarding the allegations.
This incident raises questions about accountability among gospel ministers and the importance of preserving the sanctity of Christian worship in public spaces, especially in the digital age. The Christian community watches closely as this story continues to unfold.
