There was a time when speaking up felt like walking through a minefield — because every word I said reminded him of the version of me I was trying to outgrow.
One mistake.
One bad decision.
And he kept it in his pocket like a weapon, ready to use.
Whenever we disagreed, he’d throw it at me: “Don’t forget what you did.”
So little by little, I went quiet.
I began to shrink, to fade.
Because how can anyone move forward while being shackled to who they used to be?
We all have chapters we don’t read out loud — parts of our story we’re still trying to heal from.
But real love doesn’t keep a record of your wrongs.
Real love sees your scars and says, “You’re still worthy. I still choose you.”
If he can’t do that, then he isn’t loving you — he’s punishing you.
Please, don’t stay in places that constantly echo your past.
Stay where your future is nurtured, where your growth is celebrated.
The right man will never use your history against you — he’ll build something better with you because of it.
