Singer Peter Okoye, also known as Mr. P, has issued a bold and direct statement addressing lingering tensions with former associates — and he isn't holding back.
In a fiery message shared online, Peter emphasized that age alone doesn't guarantee respect. “Being older doesn’t automatically earn you respect. Respect is earned, not given,” he stated.
Addressing past jabs about his financial status, he recalled, “Calling me broke or wishing I was broke has always been your thing. Funny enough, those were the exact words you told EFCC officials — and we all know how that ended: you landed in prison.”
He didn't mince words when questioning the need for a “new narrative” from those who, in his view, are trying to rewrite the past. “Who were you ‘shouldering’? Agbaya! You were employed as a manager, just like the two managers before you. And just like them, you got sacked. Period!” he declared.
Peter also reflected on his solo career and how it’s changed his life for the better. “Let’s be honest — this might offend some, but the truth remains: Today, as a solo artiste, what I earn from my music, shows, endorsements, and businesses is far more than what I used to earn after splitting three ways as P-Square, not to mention including the so-called manager.”
He made it clear that his decision to go solo stemmed from betrayal and disrespect. “What’s the point of sharing with people who stole from you, betrayed you, and disrespected your efforts?” he asked.
Calling his solo journey “more rewarding, more profitable, and most importantly, peaceful,” he added that those who don’t understand don’t need to. “It’s not for you to understand,” he said.
But he also pointed to an unresolved issue: “Despite being in court till today, none of you have answered the simple question: ‘Una thief, abi una no thief?’ ⚖️ Ndi ori (Thieves).”
Closing his statement, Peter said he’s done being the ‘mature’ one while facing constant disrespect. “Now, I simply match energy: You respect me? I respect you. You ignore me? I ignore you. You cross me? I cut you off. Simple.”
His final words served as a reminder of self-worth and resilience: “Life isn’t about begging people to treat you right — it’s about standing your ground. Stay real, stay strong, and never let anyone walk over you.”
