Popular Nigerian streamer, Peller, has broken his silence following allegations made by a lady identified as Nkese, who claimed she was body-shamed and insulted during a job interview for a cameraman position.
Nkese had earlier taken to social media to share her unpleasant experience, accusing Peller of mocking her appearance and making derogatory comments about her tribe. According to her, he allegedly stated that her ethnic group, Efik, doesn’t exist.
In response, Peller defended his conduct, stressing that his intention was to hire someone educated and capable of representing his brand both locally and internationally. He also addressed claims that some of the interview questions he asked were unnecessary.
“I am uneducated, I agree. But I can’t allow an uneducated person to be my cameraman. Imagine the boat of us now go outside country, you be my cameraman, something wey they ask me, I should be able to ask you and know,” he said.
Peller further clarified that his comment about needing a master’s degree was not serious but meant in jest.
“For the master’s degree something I just use am joke ni, but they bring am come,” he explained.
Addressing the tribal remark Nkese accused him of making, the streamer said the portion she posted was taken out of context.
“The only part wey she pick post na where I tell am say I no know where be that state or tribe wey I just dey joke with this girl she come – see you can’t even be my cameraman…”
His statement has stirred mixed reactions on social media, with some supporting his stance and others criticising his interview approach.
