Reality TV star and activist, Tacha, has stirred controversy online after launching a scathing critique of her generation of Nigerians, calling them “the dumbest and most cowardly.”

The former Big Brother Naija housemate took to her X (formerly Twitter) page on July 24, 2025, to express deep frustration over what she described as the youth's unwillingness to fight for meaningful change in Nigeria.

In the viral post, Tacha criticised the younger generation for blaming older leaders for the state of the country, while failing to take bold steps themselves. She cited former President Muhammadu Buhari’s role in a military coup during his 20s as an example of youthful courage and boldness that, according to her, is now missing among today’s youth.

“Listen, my generation of Nigerians is the dumbest and most cowardly,” she wrote. “Funny how we blame the ones before us for ruining Nigeria, but at least they had the guts to fight. Ex-President Buhari in his 20s was part of a coup fighting for what he believed in.”

She didn’t stop there. In an emotional continuation, Tacha condemned the modern trend of “japa” a slang term for young Nigerians emigrating in search of better opportunities abroad. According to her, instead of seeking national influence or engaging in activism, today’s youth are more interested in leaving the country or chasing online fame through “banger tweets and vibes.”

“But what are today’s 20-year-olds up to? Japa,” she wrote. “Believe me when I say, we’ve not just failed the next generation… we’ve buried it.”

Tacha’s post has drawn mixed reactions from social media users. While some supported her bold call-out and agreed that many Nigerian youths avoid political participation and social justice movements, others pushed back, accusing her of being too harsh and failing to acknowledge the deep-rooted structural issues young people face.

In defense of herself, Tacha reminded critics that she’s not just ranting for attention. “Y’all ask ‘what have you done?’ I’ve used my voice. I speak, I show up, I don’t stay silent,” she added. “This tweet was never about me. It’s about a whole generation that’s too scared to sacrifice comfort for country.”

The post has since gone viral, sparking broader conversations on youth activism, patriotism, and the societal pressures that have pushed many young Nigerians to seek better lives abroad rather than stay and fight for change.

Tacha, who has consistently used her platform to address social and political issues in Nigeria, has once again positioned herself as a voice unafraid to challenge the status quo even if it means criticizing her peers. Whether viewed as harsh truth or misplaced judgment, her words have ignited a much-needed dialogue about the role of Nigerian youth in shaping the nation's future.
