Ms. Kanyin, the highly anticipated supernatural thriller from Nemsia Studios, has officially landed on Prime Video, introducing a gripping new direction for Nigerian horror storytelling.

Directed by Jerry Ossai, the film immerses viewers in a chilling tale of ambition, fear, and ancestral vengeance. Set within the strict walls of an elite Nigerian boarding school, the story follows Amara — a brilliant yet desperate student who takes a dangerous step to secure her academic future. But her decision awakens a deadly force, unearthing buried secrets and triggering a terrifying descent into supernatural chaos.

At the center of the suspense is Ms. Kanyin, a seemingly composed teacher whose reality begins to unravel as a dark presence infiltrates the school. As strange events unfold, the line between discipline and dread begins to blur.

With a powerful ensemble cast featuring Temi Otedola, Michelle Dede, Demola Adedoyin, Kalu Ikeagwu, Toluwani George, Kanaga Jnr, Natse Jemide, Aduke Shittabey, Queen Dammy, Keppy Ekpenyong, Blessing Onwukwe, and Francis Onwochei, the film combines youthful energy with seasoned performances.

According to Nemsia Studios, the project merges coming-of-age drama with African mysticism, creating a cinematic experience that is both emotionally rich and spiritually unsettling.

Speaking on the vision behind the film, Derin Adeyokunnu, Co-Founder of Nemsia Studios, explained,

“With Ms. Kanyin, we wanted to tell a horror story rooted in our lived experiences — the pressure of growing up, the fear of failure, and the consequences of silence. It’s thrilling, deeply Nigerian, and speaks to a generation hungry for bold storytelling.”

Ms. Kanyin stands as a bold leap into the underexplored Afro-horror genre, fusing local folklore with contemporary issues in a school setting that mirrors real-life expectations and fears. With its release on Prime Video, Nigerian cinema enthusiasts now have front-row access to a tale that dares to push boundaries while staying grounded in cultural truth.
