Amid the lingering rift between Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham and her former close friend Wumi Toriola, Toyin’s husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, appears to be staying neutral.
On Friday, July 11, the Yoruba actor took to Instagram to celebrate Wumi as she marked another year. Sharing a portrait of the actress, Kolawole penned a short birthday message filled with goodwill.
“Happy birthday, dear @wumitoriola! I hope all your birthday wishes come true! It’s your special day. Enjoy your day,” he wrote.
In the same breath, Kolawole reminded his followers about Toyin Abraham’s latest cinema project, adding:
“Iyalode is still showing in all cinemas nationwide. Get your tickets to see Iyalode now.”
What caught many off guard was Wumi’s unexpected response in the comment section. Despite the strained relationship between her and Toyin, she graciously acknowledged the message, writing,
“Thank you, Daddy Ire.”
The exchange stirred quiet reactions online, especially among fans aware of the history between the two women. Toyin and Wumi’s friendship reportedly fell apart years ago, leading to public speculation and unconfirmed drama.
Kolawole’s public greeting suggests he may be choosing to remain cordial and detached from the long-standing fallout. His birthday wish, though brief, was seen by many as a diplomatic move—neither siding with his wife’s former friend nor ignoring her completely.
For now, there has been no visible response from Toyin Abraham regarding the gesture. However, her movie Iyalode continues to screen in cinemas across the country, with Kolawole actively promoting it.
This low-key moment of civility from Kolawole may not mend fences, but it subtly shows he’s keeping the peace where possible—especially in the delicate world of Nollywood relationships.
