Celebrated Nigerian dancer and choreographer, Kafayat Shafau, popularly known as Kaffy, has unveiled a creative agency and wellness movement as part of events marking her 25 years in the dance industry.
At an event held on Wednesday, July 3, Kaffy launched her new venture under the umbrella of Kaffy Incorporated, a parent company for all her business enterprises. She also announced a special wellness program tagged Transform With Kaffy, which will hold on August 9 at the Landmark Event Centre, Lagos.
The initiative blends fitness, mental health awareness, and spiritual alignment to empower Nigeria’s creative sector. Speaking at the launch, Kaffy said, “We’ve always had talent. But the business structure that allows creatives to evolve and scale is missing. That’s what we’re fixing.”
The Kaffy Kreative Agency will provide 360-degree services, including choreography, talent management, project execution, and corporate engagements.
According to her, the agency will also train and employ young creatives with better-than-average wages, offering career sustainability in an industry known for its instability.
She revealed that over 80 percent of her brand’s growth was personally funded, as many institutions failed to recognize dance as a viable business. “I’ve built this for 25 years from personal funding. Imagine what we could do with real backing. This is an investable vision,” Kaffy said.
Notable personalities such as Aproko Doctor, fitness coach Kemen, and record label executive Osagioduwa Malkin (Oduwa) graced the unveiling.
Kaffy’s new direction underscores her transition from performer to industry builder, aimed at addressing structural deficiencies in the creative arts.
