Nollywood actor Don Richard has tearfully opened up about his financial difficulties and declining health, revealing the toll it's taken on his personal life and mental wellbeing.

In a heartfelt interview on Biola Bayo's podcast, Talk to B, the veteran actor shared that he has hit rock bottom, disclosing that his wife left him during his most trying times. He admitted to having suicidal thoughts, driven by financial hardship and a serious kidney condition.

“I have nothing left,” Don Richard confessed. “My wife has deserted me because I’m broken. I told her to take care of the kids,” he said, fighting back tears.

The actor recounted selling his car for ₦1.5 million and being forced to trek across several areas in Lagos for eight months due to lack of transportation funds.

“I sold my car for N1.5 million. I would walk from Bariga to Chemist to Unilag, Iwaya, Sabo, Yaba, Ojuelegba, then take a cab through the bridge. I did it for eight months,” he revealed.

Richard also expressed his heartbreak over his deteriorating marriage, stating, “I came out and met my wife and burst into tears. I told my wife, ‘Mummy twins, another man is a lucky man.’ She is also avoiding me because I am broke. With the way that I am, unknown to me that I will leave.”

The actor, currently battling kidney issues, disclosed that he needs ₦30 million for medical treatment. “The doctor spoke to me and I was scared. Looking for 30 million. I was like, God, I don’t have such an amount. You are my life secret. If you leave me, people will know my secret.”

Despite his pain, he offered a sobering reflection on marriage and hardship: “God’s plan for any marriage is for better or worse. Most people don’t prepare for bad times; they only prepare for good ones.”

Don Richard ended his emotional account by recalling a conversation with a friend. “A friend asked me what I wanted, and I told him to look for a place for me to rest, even if it’s borrowed.”

The actor's revelations have sparked widespread empathy and concern, highlighting the often-overlooked struggles of entertainers facing difficult times.
