Popular Nigerian music sensation Paul Okoye, widely recognized by his stage name Rudeboy, has once again addressed the issue of entitlement, a topic he has never shied away from. In a recent Instagram story, the veteran singer opened up about the emotional toll of helping others who later turn against you when the support stops.

In his post, Rudeboy highlighted the painful irony that often accompanies acts of generosity. He stated, “Sometimes in life, eh! The people wey you dey suffer for and carry cross for no go send you, until you stop giving them. Then you will become a bad person.”

The message resonated deeply with many fans, shedding light on the harsh reality of how some people take kindness for granted. According to the former member of the iconic P-Square duo, people tend to appreciate you only when the benefits continue flowing. Once the support ends, they quickly paint a different picture of who you are, turning their back and labeling you the villain.

This isn’t the first time Rudeboy has spoken about the damaging effects of entitlement. In 2023, he publicly criticized what he described as the growing culture of self-entitlement, particularly among the younger generation. At the time, he took to social media to call out certain individuals who felt they deserved constant handouts. In a sharp message directed at them, he said they were unprepared for life and warned that “hunger would kill them.”

Rudeboy also recalled a disturbing personal experience where a woman, whom he had helped pay for her daughter’s blood transfusion, later insulted him. In a shocking twist, the same woman reminded him of his mortality, saying he would eventually die and leave his wealth behind. Heartbroken by her words, the “Reason With Me” crooner expressed his deep disappointment and frustration. In response to the betrayal, he remarked that he would “increase the volume of his wickedness,” a statement reflecting the emotional scars such experiences have left on him.

Paul Okoye’s recent posts continue to spark conversations on social media about gratitude, generosity, and the emotional burden of being constantly relied upon. His outspokenness underscores a broader societal issue — how self-entitlement can destroy relationships and leave even the most generous individuals feeling used and unappreciated.

As one of Nigeria’s most respected music icons, Rudeboy’s candid words serve as both a warning and a wake-up call, urging people to appreciate the help they receive and not to mistake kindness for obligation.
