At the grand premiere of the film Her Excellency, Nollywood star Sola Sobowale paid a touching tribute to veteran actor Adebayo Salami, also known as Oga Bello, crediting him for being a divine instrument in her rise to stardom.
The event, which marked Salami’s 60 years in the film industry, became an emotional moment as Sobowale publicly acknowledged his influence on her career and life.
In a heartfelt speech, she said, “God used him to take me where I am today. I have never done this in my life, but I am going to do it today. Ese Modupe. I am very grateful.”
Sobowale, known for her powerful roles in films like King of Boys, expressed admiration not just for Salami’s professional legacy, but also for his personal values.
She called him a selfless man, praising his generosity, mentorship, and ability to uplift countless others in the industry regardless of gender, age, or status. “You touched everybody… a man of action and substance, a giver,” she added.
In a deeply emotional note, Sobowale also gave accolades to Mama Wale, Salami’s wife, for standing by him through the years.
“One thing I will never forget and have been waiting for the opportunity to say is Mama Wale you supported him, and that’s why he is standing the way he is today. You will enjoy the fruit of your labour,” she concluded.
