The simmering tension between Nollywood stars Iyabo Ojo and Liz Anjorin has exploded into what may become one of the most enduring and dramatic feuds in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Though the pair have been acquainted for years, things took a darker turn in late 2023 when Liz Anjorin accused Iyabo of orchestrating online harassment campaigns against her.
According to Lizzy, Iyabo was allegedly colluding with certain gossip blogs to paint her in a negative light, which included spiritually-charged allegations involving voodoo and black magic.
These accusations did not sit well with Iyabo, especially when they were said to have touched on her children and family.
In swift response, Iyabo filed a defamation lawsuit against Liz Anjorin, demanding ₦1 billion in damages.
The move was not only bold but symbolic, as it reflected Iyabo’s refusal to allow her name or family to be dragged publicly without consequence.
While Lizzy seemed unfazed, claiming moral superiority and publicly mocking the lawsuit, the legal tussle ignited debates across social media platforms and among fans, who chose sides and kept the feud trending for days.
What had been an online war of words took a dangerous twist in May 2025 when Iyabo Ojo received a threatening letter warning that her family would "go through hell." She did not publicize the letter at the time, but things became alarming in July when her office in Lekki caught fire.
While the cause of the fire remains unclear, the incident reignited speculation and fear among her supporters.
Her daughter, Priscilla Ojo, later confirmed the existence of the threat and linked it to the ongoing rift.
Iyabo herself took to social media shortly after the fire, clearly stating that if anything happened to her or her children, Liz Anjorin should be held responsible.
In a twist of events, Liz Anjorin celebrated what she described as a legal victory, claiming the ₦1 billion lawsuit had been dismissed. However, Iyabo Ojo refuted that claim, explaining that what actually occurred was an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) meeting, which is often encouraged by courts in Nigeria before formal trials begin.
According to her, the real hearing was yet to take place, and no dismissal had occurred. The conflicting narratives from both women only deepened the public interest and controversy surrounding the case.
The feud between the two actresses has gone beyond a personal disagreement and now embodies the ugly underbelly of the Nigerian film industry where ego, envy, influence, and digital power plays dominate off-screen.
With threats, court actions, alleged arson, and social media callouts, this beef has all the elements of a long-running saga. Fans and industry watchers alike are not just witnessing a fallout; they are watching a bitter rivalry that could shape how future celebrity disputes are handled in the public domain.
What makes this battle even more gripping is the fact that both Iyabo and Liz are not just actresses they are also media personalities, influencers, and businesswomen with strong followings. Their feud spills into the streets of Instagram, TikTok, blogs, and YouTube, with both women using their platforms to subtly or not so subtly throw jabs, make declarations, and control their own narratives.
If the ongoing tension persists or worsens, there is no doubt that this could go down as one of the most talked-about celebrity feuds in Nollywood history.
It not only exposes the fragility of relationships in the entertainment world but also serves as a cautionary tale on how quickly personal grievances can escalate into public scandals.
Whether or not reconciliation is still possible remains uncertain, but for now, this beef is far from over.
