Nollywood actress Jumoke Odetola has publicly expressed her frustration over the persistent and invasive questions surrounding her personal life, particularly her relationship status. The award-winning actress took to her Instagram page to call out those who repeatedly pry into her private affairs, making it clear that such inquiries are unwelcome and inappropriate.
In a strongly worded post, Jumoke urged the public to stop probing into the lives of celebrities and respect their boundaries. She expressed dismay at the frequency of questions such as, “Are you married?” “Where is your man?” and “Who is your man?” — questions she has had to confront time and time again. According to her, these questions not only cross the line but are also based on an entitlement to know details that should remain private.
“Stop asking people personal questions that are none of your business! I keep saying this. Everytime!!" she wrote emphatically on her Instagram.
She continued, “Are you married? Where is your man? Who is your man?”
In a move laced with sarcasm and exasperation, the actress hinted that she had reluctantly shared an image in the second slide of her Instagram post to appease the curious minds.
“Now that you have forced me to show you the image in slide 2, are you happy now? Enough is enough,” she declared.
Jumoke’s comments reflect a larger frustration shared by many public figures who feel that their lives are constantly under scrutiny. While fame often comes with public interest, Jumoke argued that there should still be limits, especially when it comes to issues as personal as one's romantic relationships.
In a follow-up post, the actress took a more humorous yet equally firm approach to addressing the matter. This time, she poked fun at the assumptions people make when questioning her about her love life. Her post read:
“Where is your man? Who is your man? What even makes you think it is a man and not men or even ‘mensissss’?”
With that cheeky response, she insinuated that people should not jump to conclusions about her romantic preferences or assume there’s only one significant other in her life. She continued her post with a bit of satire, telling those invested in her private affairs to “feel free to count them” — referring to a revealing photo she included in the post.
“Now that you have forced me to reveal them. Feel free to count them. Hope they make you sleep better tonight?”
Despite the light-hearted tone, the message was clear: Jumoke is tired of being asked the same intrusive questions repeatedly and will no longer entertain them. She closed her post with a final note that, although she had chosen humor as her approach, her sentiments were very real.
“It’s not funny, but let me express myself today in proverbs.”
Jumoke Odetola’s public response has sparked conversations online about respecting celebrities’ privacy, particularly when it comes to their personal relationships. While fans often feel a connection to their favorite stars, Jumoke’s message serves as a reminder that there’s a boundary between admiration and intrusion — and that boundary should be respected.
