The Managing Director of EeZee Conceptz Limited, Nancy Nnadi, popularly known as Coach Nancy, has disclosed that talks are ongoing to resolve the long-standing royalty dispute between the gospel record label and popular singer, Mercy Chinwo.
In a recent Instagram post, Nnadi publicly retracted earlier defamatory statements made against Chinwo, signaling a step toward reconciliation.
“On the advice of my lawyer, and for the sake of peace and the love of God, I retract my earlier post about Minister Mercy Chinwo,” she wrote. “As well, I pray that Almighty God perfects the ongoing settlement process being facilitated by the Fathers of Faith between her and EeZee Conceptz.”
The conflict dates back to January 2025, when Mercy Chinwo dragged her former record label boss, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, widely known as EeZee Tee, to court for allegedly diverting $345,000 in royalties. This came two years after the singer parted ways with EeZee Conceptz over financial disagreements.
Tensions escalated when Nnadi accused Chinwo of financial misconduct amid the court proceedings. In response, the singer filed a defamation lawsuit, demanding a public apology and the removal of all defamatory content from social media platforms.
Nnadi’s recent statement appears to fulfill that demand, acknowledging the involvement of respected religious leaders in the peace process.
The public is now watching closely to see if this move will bring a final resolution to one of the gospel music industry’s most publicized legal disputes.
While Chinwo has yet to issue a response, sources close to both parties suggest that negotiations are progressing in a positive direction.
The case underscores the increasing legal complexities within Nigeria’s music industry and the need for transparent contracts and royalty agreements.
