Afro-fusion icon Burna Boy has officially launched his eighth studio album titled No Sign of Weakness, a deeply introspective project that captures his evolution as an artist and a man who has refused to back down in the face of adversity.
The 16-track record arrived on Friday under Spaceship Records, Bad Habit, and Atlantic Records. It blends fresh material with previously heard singles, including “Bundle by Bundle,” “Update,” “Sweet Love,” and the Travis Scott collaboration, “TaTaTa.” “Change Your Mind,” another fan favorite already in circulation, features rising American-Nigerian star Shaboozey.
The album’s new songs include “No Panic,” “Buy You Life,” “28 Grams,” “Kabiyesi,” “Come Gimme,” “Love,” “Dem Dey,” “Pardon,” “Born Winner,” “Empty Chairs,” and the title track “No Sign of Weakness.” Burna Boy brings a rich mix of sounds, lyrical depth, and international flair to each of them.
In a surprise move, the Grammy-winning singer enlisted rock legend Mick Jagger for “Empty Chairs” and Belgian artist Stromae for “Pardon,” making the project a truly global collaboration. These features further reflect Burna Boy’s growing reputation as an artist who breaks musical boundaries and appeals to listeners from all corners of the world.
Describing the essence of the album, the Nigerian hitmaker explained that No Sign of Weakness is a personal statement, shaped by the challenges he has faced throughout his career and life.
“It’s about showing strength without having to speak about it,” he said. “I’ve survived things that could have ended me, but I kept pushing. That’s what this album represents—resilience and self-belief.”
Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, first gained widespread attention with the 2013 single “Like to Party.” His debut album L.I.F.E paved the way for a string of successful releases, including On a Spaceship (2015), Outside (2018), African Giant (2019), Twice As Tall (2020), Love, Damini (2022), and I Told Them (2023).
His 2020 project Twice As Tall won him a Grammy Award in 2021 for Best Global Music Album, further cementing his legacy as one of Africa’s most influential music exports.
To cap off the album release, Burna Boy is set to headline the final night of Afro Nation Portugal tonight at the Lit Stage. The show will mark his first live performance since the new album dropped and is expected to draw massive crowds eager to witness his latest sound in action.
With No Sign of Weakness, Burna Boy delivers a powerful message through music—reminding fans of the strength it takes to rise above pain, stay grounded, and continue moving forward. The album is a clear reflection of his growth and a reminder of why he remains one of the most compelling voices in global music today.
