Broda Shaggi Says Funding, Not Talent, Is Biggest Challenge Facing Creatives

Skit maker and actor Broda Shaggi has pointed out that the most significant obstacle confronting the creative industry is not a lack of talent or ideas, but limited access to funding.

In a post shared on Instagram, the comedian emphasized the importance of intellectual property (IP) in securing financial support. He encouraged fellow creatives to start viewing their work as valuable assets that can drive wealth creation and long-term success.

“One of the biggest hurdles we face in the creative world isn’t talent or ideas, it’s access to funding,” he wrote. “So here’s the real question. How can we, as creatives, unlock financing by leveraging our Intellectual Property (IP) as collateral?”

Broda Shaggi, who recently attended an event hosted by the CREAM platform focused on the topic, likened creative content to crude oil, stressing its economic potential when properly managed.

He said, “The key takeaway? Content is the new crude. Just like oil built empires, your creative output has massive untapped value. So if you’re a creative, keep creating. Your IP isn’t just art, it’s an asset. One that can open doors to millions, even billions.”
