Veteran Nollywood actress, Tola Oladokun, has expressed deep gratitude to her colleague, Funke Akindele, for the pivotal role she played in her acting career.
Speaking in a recent episode of Oyinmomo TV, Oladokun opened up about her journey in the film industry, her personal life, and the significant support she has received from the award-winning filmmaker.
She shared that her first encounter with Funke Akindele was facilitated by fellow actor Lala during the era of Odun Ifa, a period when Funke was still finding her footing in Nollywood. Although she couldn’t participate in Akindele’s film Agbefo at the time due to prior commitments, the connection they established proved to be life-changing.
"Back then, during the Odun Ifa days, when Funke was still learning the ropes, that was when we met," Oladokun recalled. "She was always present whenever Yinka called me for a job, and she kept reaching out since then. Lala was the one who introduced her to me initially, but I couldn’t join her project Agbefo because I was already working on something else."
Despite missing that opportunity, Akindele followed up through Lala, offering her another chance to collaborate.
"After the Agbefo project wrapped, Lala contacted me again on her behalf. Since then, Funke has continued to invite me to be part of her productions, even before we eventually worked together on Jenifa," she added.
Oladokun’s tribute highlights the generosity and consistency of Akindele in uplifting fellow talents within the industry.
