Renowned Nollywood veteran, Lalude, has shared details about his strained relationship with fellow actor, Sola Sobowale, during a recent appearance on Behind the Fame – African A-List.

Lalude recounted a painful incident that occurred during a show organized by Olayemi Olayinka. He said he was present at the event and learned that Sobowale was also in attendance. Despite being aware of his presence, she reportedly made no effort to greet him, something he found deeply hurtful.

“She did something that pained me one day. I was at Olayemi Olayinka’s show and I heard Shola Shobowale was there and she knew I was around also, but didn’t bother to come say hi. She’s not even older than me,” he revealed.

Reflecting on their early days in the industry, Lalude recalled being part of Jide Kosoko’s stage play Ogun Awoyaya at the National Theatre, where actress Ngozi introduced Sobowale to him when she was just starting out in the acting world.

“Back then, when we were doing Uncle Jide Kosoko’s play ‘Ogun Awoyaya’ at the National Theatre, that was when Ngozi brought her to me and introduced her to me. She was trying to join acting, as much as I like, but what she did that day surprised me,” he said.

Lalude also questioned the public perception of Sobowale’s wealth, suggesting that despite her appearances, she is not as affluent as many believe.

“Regardless of her living abroad, she’s not truly wealthy. We were there with Yinka, and she went to the stage and left without seeing me. That’s the only thing that pained me,” he concluded.

The actor's remarks shed light on unspoken tensions within the Nollywood community and the emotional impact of professional and personal disconnects.
