Reality TV star and former Big Brother Naija Level Up housemate, Queen Mercy Atang, has expressed her frustration with Instagram’s content policies after receiving a negative comment from a troll.
In a recent post, Queen shared a screenshot of a troll’s message criticizing a video of her dancing. She highlighted the irony that while trolls can freely post hateful comments, content creators like herself risk penalties for clapping back.
Addressing the issue directly, Queen tagged Instagram and wrote, “It honestly feels unfair that trolls can freely come to someone’s page and drop negativity, but if we respond, we risk being banned.”
The reality star went on to explain that the critic had something negative to say about her twerking video, prompting her to visit the person’s page. She hinted that the troll’s own content made the criticism highly hypocritical.
Queen admitted that while she would love to respond more directly, she’s currently shadowbanned and has already received warnings from Instagram, making her cautious.
“I wish I could respond properly, young lady, but my account is currently shadowbanned, and I’ve already been warned by IG. So no, I won’t reply directly,” she wrote. “But here’s what I will say: go take care of yourself.”
Her message sparked conversations online about social media moderation and the double standards creators often face when addressing online harassment.
