Award-winning streaming platform Prime Video is set to unveil a deeply emotional and culturally rich Nigerian story with the premiere of The Lost Days, directed by Wingonia Ikpi, on July 11, 2025.
The film marks Ikpi’s directorial debut and is the ninth title under the First Features initiative—an effort by Native Filmworks and Michelangelo Productions to spotlight emerging filmmakers who craft grounded and emotionally layered stories that reflect the Nigerian experience.
The Lost Days follows the gripping story of a woman who returns to her hometown under the shadow of a terminal illness. Her return, however, is short-lived, as she disappears once again, leaving behind a trail of unresolved emotions and unanswered questions. Her daughter, former lover, and extended family are left to grapple with her absence, both past and present, in a story that asks: If you were given a second chance at life, what would you do with it?
Blending themes of loss, redemption, and reconnection, the film takes viewers on a powerful journey through personal grief and healing, anchored by compelling performances from a stellar ensemble cast.
Leading the cast is acclaimed theatre director Ifeoma Fafunwa, who makes her first-ever on-screen acting appearance. She stars alongside Bimbo Manuel, Baaj Adebule, Cynthia Clarke, and Durotimi. Also featured are Aderonke Onuoha and Oyedele Music.
The Lost Days was written by Abdul Tijani-Ahmed and Paul Rowlston, and produced by Steve Gukas, Dotun Olakunri, and Oma Ezeani—each bringing their wealth of experience to this emotionally nuanced project.
With its poignant storytelling, strong performances, and powerful message, The Lost Days is poised to make a lasting impression on viewers, both within Nigeria and around the world.
