Veteran filmmaker Saidi Balogun is set to return to the big screen with Èwò (Forbidden), a suspense-filled Yoruba thriller that explores the complexities of tradition, cultural taboos, and the cost of sacrifice.
Produced in collaboration with Fulfilment ‘Fuchi’ Nwaturuocha and award-winning producer Ekene Som Mekwunye, the gripping film is scheduled for theatrical release nationwide on July 18.
A joint production by Riverside Productions and Nile Entertainment, in partnership with Bukana Motion Pictures, Èwò brings together some of Nollywood’s most respected talents for what promises to be a cinematic experience rich in storytelling and heritage.
Leading the cast is fan-favourite Bimbo Ademoye, who stars alongside Ademola Adedoyin in pivotal roles that delve into the heart of a mysterious community haunted by age-old customs.
The film also boasts a powerful supporting ensemble including Jaiye Kuti, Tina Mba, Akin Lewis, Yinka Quadri, Dele Odule, Kunle Coker, Taiwo Hassan, Moyo Lawal, Osereme Inegbenebor, and Luwamide Femi Isedowo. Saidi Balogun himself also plays a key role in the film.
Described as a deep cultural narrative with themes of destiny and forbidden paths, Èwò (Forbidden) seeks to spark important conversations around belief systems and generational decisions. The film is being distributed by Nile Entertainment.
Anticipation is already building among fans and cinema-goers, with a new poster unveiled on social media showcasing the haunting aesthetic and powerful energy the film embodies.
Èwò lands in cinemas across Nigeria from July 18, promising viewers an unforgettable journey into the heart of Yoruba tradition and mystery.
