Popular content creator and actor, Kamo State, has shared the emotional story behind why he gave up on his childhood dream of becoming a lawyer.

In a recent chat with fellow entertainer Tobi Makinde, Kamo reflected on his early ambitions and the financial reality that forced him to pivot.

He disclosed that law was his first love, but being raised by a single mother who struggled to sponsor multiple children through school meant sacrifices had to be made.

He explained that both he and his sister gained university admission around the same time, placing a heavy financial burden on their mother.

With limited resources, the family had to make a tough decision  one that saw his sister move ahead with school, while Kamo put his aspirations on hold.

“I had to take a step back,” Kamo said, “not because I wasn’t passionate about law, but because I couldn’t ignore the reality my family was facing. My mom simply couldn’t afford to sponsor two of us at the same time.”

Eventually, Kamo turned to the arts, where he found a new path through content creation. Though the transition was challenging, it proved to be a blessing in disguise.

He found his footing in entertainment, and after years of consistent effort, his breakout moment came during the 2020 lockdown.

While law may have been his first dream, Kamo State now thrives as a performer, and he believes his journey was destined. “Sometimes life redirects you,” he said. “And if you stay true to yourself, it will still lead you to purpose.”

Kamo’s story is a reminder that dreams can evolve, and even when circumstances force a detour, new opportunities often lie ahead.
