Nigerian music executive Jude Okoye has publicly criticised his brother, Peter Okoye, alongside singer Cynthia Morgan and other former acts once managed under his platform, accusing them of turning against him after enjoying the benefits of his support.

In a detailed Instagram post, Jude claimed these artists became successful while riding on the back of his label, only to leave when they felt established enough—later blaming him when their careers took a downturn.

“They all have one thing in common: They were big, influential and successful when I was shouldering them with my platform until they got greedy and wanted to eat alone and so left,” he wrote.

He pointed out that after exiting his management, none of them initially raised issues, instead celebrating their so-called independence. According to Jude, the change in narrative only emerged after things stopped working in their favour.

“They never complained afterwards. Rather, they bragged about their ‘newfound freedom’ and ‘making it all on their own’. Years down the line, they fell off the wagon and became broke, and instead of accepting responsibility and accountability for their choices, they are pointing fingers at the same person they left for their ‘freedom’. What manner of madness is that?”

Jude challenged them to clearly state any wrongdoing on his part, insisting that no one has been able to point to specific offences.

“They can’t specifically mention what wrongs were done to them, how and where. You can’t sell goods to someone and later demand them back while refusing to return the money spent on the goods.”

He went further to allege that some of the artists resorted to using false narratives and emotional manipulation in an attempt to force his hand.

“Steady spinning sentiments and emotions to see if I can be blackmailed into submission. You should know by now that I don’t succumb to bullying or cheap blackmail. They concocted and fabricated lies, attached money laundering and fraud to my name to get me jailed for me to break down within days and submit to their demands, but to their surprise, I sat it out for 2 months.”

Jude concluded with a stinging remark, suggesting the attacks stem from financial struggles: “Una dey find money when una don chop finish. When next they come out ranting, ask them what is wrong I did to them that resulted in their present situation.”
