Nigerian cinema is making another powerful international statement as Ìyálòdè, a culturally rich and female-led epic, is set to debut in select cinemas across Canada beginning June 27.
Produced by Nollywood heavyweights Toyin Abraham, Kolawole Ajeyemi, and FilmOne Studios, Ìyálòdè tells the compelling story of one woman, one kingdom, and one legacy—an ode to heritage, power, and womanhood. The film, already stirring buzz for its powerful themes and grandeur, is being distributed in Canada through FilmOne Entertainment in partnership with Snag Exclamation.
The Canadian rollout of Ìyálòdè is part of the #CinemaWaka initiative, a cultural project powered by Waka Canada aimed at showcasing African stories on international screens. With its blend of tradition, drama, and empowerment, the film is poised to resonate with both African diaspora audiences and global film lovers seeking authentic African narratives.
Described as a celebration of royalty, resilience, and legacy, Ìyálòdè promises to be a milestone for Nigerian storytelling on foreign soil, further establishing Nollywood’s growing influence in the global film industry.
