Controversial Nigerian singer, Speed Darlington, has defiantly responded to being declared wanted by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) over allegations of rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.
The agency’s declaration followed a viral video in which the singer claimed to have had sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl a confession that sparked widespread outrage and prompted NAPTIP’s intervention.
Despite being summoned, the musician refused to honour the invitation and instead posted another video on Monday, where he insisted he would not turn himself in.
In the video, Speed Darlington accused NAPTIP of lacking evidence and described the agency’s actions as an attempt to use him for publicity.
He argued that his remarks were merely for social media influence and did not constitute a criminal offense.
He further insisted there was no complainant or proof against him and alleged that NAPTIP was responding to public pressure rather than facts.
The singer, known for his controversial personality, warned of legal consequences and threatened to sue the agency for defamation of character if his name was not removed from its wanted list.
The unfolding controversy has sparked heated reactions online, with many Nigerians demanding accountability while others question the boundaries between free speech and criminal confession. NAPTIP has not issued an official response to Speed Darlington’s claims or threats at the time of this report.
