Controversial media personality Daddy Freeze has opened up about the heavy price he paid for openly criticizing Nigerian pastors.

In a recent interview with businessman Stephen Akintayo, Freeze revealed that his outspoken stance against certain religious practices cost him everything he had built professionally.

Freeze candidly shared, “When I came after Nigerian pastors, I lost 100% of my business.” He explained that his decision to speak out wasn’t an easy one, but he felt compelled to address issues he saw within the religious community. Unfortunately, this bold move led to the loss of his income and support from many quarters.

Highlighting the religious intolerance that still exists in Nigeria, Freeze recounted a sad incident involving a young Muslim man who was denied employment solely because of his faith. “The guy said, ‘I’m a Muslim,’ and was told, ‘I can’t work with a Muslim,’” Freeze recalled. He added that Muslims tend to be more open to working with Christians, but the reverse is less common, reflecting a deep-rooted bias that he believes must be overcome.

The media figure also touched on his personal life, addressing rumors and controversies surrounding his divorce. Freeze admitted that his marriage was far from perfect and involved conflicts that sometimes turned physical.

“In all fairness, we used to fight. And the fight used to get physical,” he said, acknowledging the complexity of relationships in Nigeria, where divorce often carries a heavy social stigma.

He pointed out how difficult it is for Nigerians to accept that marriages can end without drama or villainizing one party. “You can’t just say ‘marriage no work, I want to divorce.’ You must be a monster. If not, they will not divorce you,” Freeze explained.

Daddy Freeze’s openness sheds light on sensitive social issues in Nigeria, from religious intolerance to the stigma around divorce, encouraging a broader conversation about acceptance and change.
