Chris Brown an American singer appeared before a UK court on Friday, pleading not guilty to a charge stemming from an alleged altercation at a London nightclub in 2023.

Wearing a dark suit, tie, and glasses, the 36-year-old stood in the dock as the charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent was read out. “Not guilty, ma’am,” he replied, before waving to onlookers in the public gallery as he exited the courtroom.

The court has set a five to seven-day trial for October 26, 2026.

Brown had been arrested in Manchester in May and spent close to a week in custody before securing bail. He is currently out on a £5 million ($6.7 million) bail, which he stands to forfeit if he fails to attend future court proceedings.

With the legal case, the court has permitted the singer to continue his international tour, which began on June 8 in Amsterdam. Brown is presently performing in the UK, with his next concert scheduled for Saturday in London.

The charge relates to an incident on February 19, 2023, in Hanover Square, where a man was allegedly struck multiple times with a bottle, chased, punched, and kicked. Brown was reportedly on tour in the UK at the time of the alleged assault.

The singer, widely known for his music career and past controversies involving Barbadian artist Rihanna, remains under legal scrutiny as the case progresses.
