Nigerian social media critic VeryDarkMan has warned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) not to release a mugshot taken during his recent detention.
The critic, who was held in EFCC custody for nearly five days, shared his stance in a video after regaining access to his social media accounts.
In the video, VeryDarkMan claimed that the EFCC took a photo of him while he was detained and cautioned that trouble would follow if the image were released with any mention of “money laundering.”
“If you release my picture with money laundering attached to it, there will be trouble,” he said. “I’m not a fraudster. If you claim it’s money laundering, it means everyone arrested with the same mugshot is falsely accused.”
VeryDarkMan also accused Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) of being involved in his arrest.
He warned that he would expose video evidence linking the bank to his detention once he regains access to his confiscated phone.
The video caption read:
“Dear EFCC, as we are about to become friends in the quest for a better Nigeria, we have to start with integrity and clean hands. We cannot start with lies… and as for @gtbank, I will be needing some explanations o.”
