Just days after Priscilla Ojo and Tanzanian singer Juma Jux wrapped up their headline-grabbing wedding celebration in Tanzania, social media has erupted with differing opinions and not all of them are glowing.
Nigerian critic and social commentator, Oriretan Honour, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express skepticism about the couple’s future together. According to him, their extravagant wedding which reportedly featured a host of celebrities and high-ranking personalities may be setting them up for failure.
In a strongly worded post, Honour argued that the couple's over-the-top wedding finale, which included a surprise Range Rover gift from Jux to Priscilla, reflected misplaced priorities.
He questioned whether the attention, effort, and money poured into the ceremony was justified in today’s economic climate, suggesting that such resources would have been better used for national development.
He didn’t stop there. In a sarcastic jab, Honour suggested the entire wedding could pass for a dramatic Netflix series titled “Crying Bestie,” alluding to its cinematic quality and the emotional twists that often accompany celebrity relationships.
His broader point? Public, high-profile marriages especially those fueled by social media rarely withstand the test of time.
While his comments have sparked backlash from fans of the newlyweds, others have echoed similar sentiments, expressing concern over the growing trend of extravagant weddings in Africa’s entertainment scene.
Priscilla, the daughter of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, and Juma Jux have yet to respond to the viral remarks. For now, the couple seems focused on enjoying their honeymoon, while the internet continues to debate the longevity of their union.
