Popular Nigerian street-hop artiste, Small Doctor, has raised concerns over the alarming increase in drug abuse among Nigerian youths.
The singer, known for his energetic performances and street credibility, expressed his worries during a recent media chat, urging young people to avoid the destructive path of substance abuse.
Small Doctor, whose real name is Adekunle Temitope, stated that the rise in drug use is gradually eroding the potential and future of the country’s younger generation.
According to him, many talented and promising youths are now addicted to harmful substances, which is not only affecting their health but also contributing to rising crime and insecurity in various communities.
“It’s disheartening to see how many youths are losing themselves to drugs. This thing is destroying lives, homes, and futures. We can’t keep quiet,” he said.
The “Penalty” crooner emphasized the need for collective action, calling on parents, community leaders, and fellow entertainers to play active roles in educating young people about the dangers of drug abuse. He also stressed that the entertainment industry must be more intentional in promoting positive messages.
Small Doctor appealed to the government and non-governmental organizations to invest more in awareness campaigns, youth empowerment programs, and rehabilitation centers. He believes that many young people turn to drugs out of frustration, peer pressure, and a lack of support.
He concluded by encouraging his fans to stay focused and make wise choices, reminding them that true success comes from discipline and hard work.
Small Doctor’s statement has since sparked reactions on social media, with many Nigerians applauding him for using his platform to address a pressing issue affecting the nation’s youth.
