Nigerian artist Portable has reached out to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), asking them to release online figure VeryDarkMan, who was recently arrested.
In a heartfelt video shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Portable expressed concern over the detention of VeryDarkMan, who he referred to as both a “friend” and a “generous individual,” despite their differences at times.
“Please, because of God. Please free VeryDarkMan, he is my friend. He gives people food, he helps a lot of people. I love people who help people,” Portable said in the video.
Reports suggest that VeryDarkMan was arrested shortly after leaving a GTBank branch. While the specific reason behind his arrest remains unclear, speculation has linked the incident to his visit to the bank.
Portable also urged Nigerians to refrain from protesting against the bank, urging them to keep their money where it is.
“Don’t remove your money from GTBank,” he advised in his video.
The video has sparked a variety of reactions online, with many weighing in on the situation and Portable’s public plea.
Please help us free Verydarkman, he's my friend, he helps people, he gives people food” - Portable.
